Your first visit to Enoch & Lamei Orthodontics is free, relaxed, and designed to give you all the information you need to make a confident decision about treatment. Whether you are bringing your child for an early evaluation or exploring options for yourself as an adult, Dr. Harold Enoch and Dr. Amir Lamei will take the time to answer every question and explain your options in plain language.
No referral is needed. You can schedule directly at either of our offices.
What Happens at Your Free Consultation
Your first appointment typically takes about 60 minutes. Here is what to expect:
1. Welcome and Check-In
When you arrive, our front desk team will greet you and collect any paperwork or insurance information. If you completed your new patient forms online ahead of time, check-in is even faster.
2. Clinical Examination
Dr. Enoch or Dr. Lamei will perform a thorough examination of your teeth, bite, jaw alignment, and facial structure. They are looking at how your teeth fit together, how your jaw moves, and whether there are any developing issues that need attention.
3. Digital Records
We use TRIOS digital scanners and digital X-rays to capture detailed images of your teeth and jaw — no uncomfortable putty impressions. You will see a 3D model of your teeth on screen, which helps you understand exactly what your orthodontist sees.
Depending on your case, records may include:
- Digital panoramic and cephalometric X-rays
- 3D intraoral scan (TRIOS digital impression)
- Clinical photographs
If time allows, we can take records at the same appointment as your exam. Otherwise, a short follow-up appointment is scheduled.
4. Treatment Recommendation
After reviewing your records, your orthodontist will explain:
- What the issue is — the specific problem with your teeth, bite, or jaw, if any
- Whether treatment is needed now — some patients, especially younger children, benefit from monitoring rather than immediate treatment
- Which treatment options are available — braces, clear aligners, or specialized appliances, depending on your case
- How long will treatment take — an estimated timeline based on the complexity of your case
- What results to expect — realistic goals for your smile and bite
5. Financial Review
Our treatment coordinator will review the full cost of your recommended treatment, including:
- Your treatment fee and everything it covers (records, appliances, visits, one set of retainers)
- Your insurance benefits, if applicable — we will verify your coverage and explain how it applies
- Payment options — interest-free monthly plans, pay-in-full discounts, CareCredit, and auto-pay
You will leave knowing exactly what treatment costs and how to fit it into your budget. There is no pressure to start the same day.
What to Bring to Your First Visit
To help your appointment go smoothly, please bring:
- Insurance card — if you have dental insurance with orthodontic benefits
- Referral or X-rays — if your dentist provided a referral letter or recent X-rays (not required)
- List of questions — write down anything you want to ask so you do not forget
- Your child’s dental records — if available, these help us see the full picture
If you have completed treatment elsewhere in the past and are concerned about relapse, bring your previous records or retainers if you still have them.
Who Should Schedule a First Visit?
We see patients of every age at their first visit:
- Children (age 7 and up) — the American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first evaluation by age 7, even if treatment is not needed right away. Learn more about early orthodontic treatment.
- Teens — this is the most common age to begin comprehensive braces or clear aligner treatment.
- Adults — you are never too old. Dr. Enoch and Dr. Lamei treat adults in their 30s through their 70s.
You do not need a referral from your dentist to schedule. Many families bring multiple family members to the same appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Understanding your dental care is important. These frequently asked questions provide helpful information about your first visit and what to expect.
Yes. Your initial consultation including the clinical exam, digital scans, X-rays, and a full treatment recommendation is completely free. There is no obligation to begin treatment.
Plan for about 60 minutes. This gives us enough time for a thorough exam, digital records, treatment discussion, and financial review.
A dental referral is not required. However, we do recommend that your child has an established relationship with a family dentist for regular cleanings and checkups. If dental work is needed before orthodontic treatment begins, we will coordinate with your dentist.
For many children, the first visit results in a monitoring plan rather than immediate treatment. We will keep an eye on your child’s development with periodic check-ups (typically every 6 to 12 months) at no additional charge until the right time for treatment arrives.
In some cases, yes. If you are ready to begin and records are completed at the first visit, we may be able to start that same day or schedule your bonding appointment within a few days. There is never any pressure to make a decision on the spot.
